Insecurity 6

25th May 09

Hi guys: You are really a group of nice students who have great intentions to make this work...

What is the problem?—My perception is that you desperately need to take leadership within the group.. You are behind on many things.. we discussed this 1 1/2 weeks ago with you and although I see some advances you are behind schedule. You need to find strategies as a group to meet more frequently.. and to advance.. If you have a clear plan and everyone is checking the wiki on a daily basis and contributing to advance in your inquiry then you will be successful!

Things that should have been done that I don`t see are very complete

By week 2:

Collecting all the possible resources: books, internet, encyclopedias, videos..focussing on the local side

Focus on interviewing experts urgently!!....you did it but where are the questions and answers on this wiki to start making conclusions

Finding specific information about insecurity in Cali to show your lines of inquiry and to be able to answer the key questions.

Uploading Images

By week 3:
Organising the resources, and to start synthesising and answering the key questions, extracting info, writing in your own words to make a balance of what you have and what you need
You should also show how you are going to present this info.

Exhibition planner.. I know cristina and natalia are completing it today..
If you are one step behind collecting the necessary resources then how can you organise them on time?
I hope you see my point and really do your best in the rest of this week and week 4 to catch up!

Check out all the notes I have put on the discussion panels of some of your pages: home page, dividing responsibilities, how does it work?, robberies, videos, teacher`s comments in particular about sources..
My main concern is that I do not see clearly your focus on local issues...this means collecting info about local robberies and vandalism and if you look at your lines of inquiry there is still not enough info.
Answering the key questions with the sources will show you if you have a balance of resources and you have enough info for each question- REVISIT THE CENTRAL IDEA AND LINES OF INQUIRY AND FOCUS ON THE LOCAL ISSUE

GOOD LUCK AND LET ME KNOW YOUR STRATEGIES TO CATCH UP!

Week 3

By the end of this week you should have:
· Completed everything from week 2 to do list
· Answer each key question synthesing the information your group has obtained until now. Leave a double page for each question, as a group you should sit down together:
o Answer the questions
o What you understand from the information in your own words. Include who found the information and where the information was found (reference)
o How you are planning to use it and show it in the exhibition
· Run through the inquiry cycle for each question so you can evaluate if you have sufficient information and you have used a variety of resources to answer each question.
· added any resources to the bibliography list at the end of your process journal.
· Written a weekly reflection of your groups participation and if you are on schedule.
· Downloaded a digital copy of the planner which is on the ccbsixthgradenetwork wiki, fill it in and upload to your own group wiki.
· Drawn a copy of the inquiry cycle in your process journal.
· Filled in the attitudes, skills and attributes tables for week 1,2 and 3.
